What was just an idea a few months ago has now become a successful premiere: The first Responsible Leadership Summit Tyrol brought together around 120 participants at the Raiffeisen Haus in Oberndorf on March 17th. Representatives from business, science, politics, municipalities, social organisations and education discussed how rural regions can remain liveable, economically strong and socially balanced in the future. The event was fully booked weeks in advance. In addition to the professional exchange, the focus was above all on togetherness: different perspectives, open discussions and a clear will to do things together. The central message of the summit is that opportunities arise where regions act together.
“We can only shape a promising future through the cooperation of different actors. The summit has made it clear how valuable the exchange between politics, business, science and society is in order to develop viable solutions for regions,” emphasizes initiator Thomas Brandtner from Gemeinsinn KG. Co-initiator Prof. Dr. René Schmidpeter also emphasizes: “Sustainable development is created locally – where people take responsibility.”
Practical examples from municipalities, companies and organizations showed how responsible leadership is lived in everyday life – from the circular economy to social and digital innovations.
A highlight was the presentation of the Responsible Leadership Award from over 50 submissions – the following winners (the top 3 in each category were awarded):
• Social Leadership: “Future for Tshumbe”
• Sustainable Leadership: “Water cycle in the production process” – Ernst Derfeser GmbH
• Diversity Leadership: Caritas Salzburg – Dementia Service Centre (“der Garten”)
